Day 27 : Joigny to Migennes

Friday 3rd August 2007

Day's Progress: 9 kms : 3 locks (Total 546 kms : 229 locks)

This was our last day on the canals – we were due to arrive in Migennes at lunchtime and would spend the afternoon and evening packing up and cleaning the boat. We would spend the night on the boat and abandon our lovely little place in the morning.

The journey to Migennes was uneventful and we had to tie up at lunchtime outside the last lock together with about 4 other boats – all returning at the same time!

Early in our trip I spoke about the altercation Steve had with the chef….. well this was about to come back and bite our bums. At Migennes we moored next to a boat that was being repaired – they were replacing the engine and had to work on it through the night for a party that was arriving in the morning. Steve went into the office in the evening and gave the people our left over beers and wine (not the good stuff) and some groceries and came face to face with the friend of the chef who happened to be in the kitchen when Steve was sticking his finger up the chefs nostrils! Anyway this guy was rude to Steve and said he didn’t know what he was talking about etc etc. And during the night Steve’s spare cell phone that was charging was stolen and this guy made obscene drunken phone calls to some people in South Africa….. amazing.
And this is a final picture of a lovely flower birds in the park at Migennes.
